ENDODONTICS – ROOT CANAL

ENDODONTICS
ROOT CANAL

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or injuries to the dental pulp.

Natural teeth are meant to last a lifetime. Even if one of your teeth becomes injured or decayed, it can usually be saved through a specialized dental procedure known as a root canal treatment.

A Root canal treatment usually involves the removal of the tooth’s pulp, a small thread-like tissue that was once important for tooth development.

Years ago, teeth containing injured pulp were often extracted. Today, teeth can often be saved through root canal treatment, even if the pulp became injured or infected.

Once removed, the pulp is replaced with materials that seal off the root canal from its surrounding tissues.

Finally, to protect your restored tooth, we recommend fitting it with a crown.
